The Fairview Heights Police Patrol Divsion is the largest division of the police department. Patrol is divided into four squads that provide continuous citizen assistance and protection throughout the year.  The goal of the Patrol division is to proactively address community problems and also respond to emergency and non-emergency calls.  These calls include but are not limited to basic calls (i.e. burning complaint, lockout) to a more complex call (i.e. burglary, armed violence calls).  The patrol division requires its officers to attend a diversity of training to enhance the police department ability to handle calls.

The type of training a patrol officer attends may include Crisis Intervention Training, Criminal Patrol: Drug Enforcement, Criminal Law and Procedure, Firearms Training, Defensive Tactics, DUI Enforcement, Breath Alcohol Analyzer Training, and more.  Each squad is assigned officers with one or more the specialty training above and each shift is assigned a Business and K-9 officer.
