history

The Fairview Heights Police is proud of it's Canine Unit. The Unit originally began with two Police Officers and their Canine partners. Officer Jeff Hinson handles Kenny. Kenny is a Belgian Malinois [MAL-in-wah]. Officer Jason Totel handles Kohl who is a black German Shepard. Both animals are highly trained in Narcotics detection and tracking. Both Dogs have located drugs and currency in many vehicle searches. In 2008, the Canine Unit expanded. Two more canine partners were added. Officer Aaron Nyman handles Eve, and Officer Jeff Blair handles Demi. Both Eve and Demi are also Belgian Malinois. All dogs are certified with the NNDDA, the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association. We are proud to have these assets and know that they will continue to help our department and serve our community.
